এখন ইন্টারনেটের কানেকশন থাকলে আপনার আর অন্য কোন পন্ডিতের দরকার পরে না। আবহাওয়া হোক বা ঠিকানা, ভূগোল হোক বা বিজ্ঞান, যে কোন প্রশ্নের সবচাইতে সহজলভ্য এবং নির্ভরযোগ্য উত্তরটি আপনাকে ইন্টারনেটই দিতে পারে। আর এর সহজ ব্যাবহার করতে হলে আমাদের জানা দরকার কিছু প্রচলিত টার্মস। চলুন, জেনে নেয়া যাক। 1. Browser: a program that lets you look at the Internet Ex: I used to use Internet Explorer, but now I am trying out a new browser called Google Chrome. 2. Social media network: a website that connects people; allows you to share information such as photos, links, and updates Ex : Businesses are now using social media networks like Facebook for advertising. 3. Traffic : the number of users that visit a website Ex : Writing a blog is a good way to increase traffic on your website. 4. Widget : a small program that you can add to a webpage or desktop that offers specific information, such as twitter updates, the weather, a calendar. Ex : You can add a calendar widget to your web page. 5. Hypertext : a word or phrase that you can click on with your mouse; takes you to a related web page Ex : Add hypertext to your resume to connect employers to your website. 6. Secure : safe for adding private information Ex : Only use your credit card on secure websites. 7. User-friendly : easy to use Ex: A search engine makes a website more user-friendly. 8. Wireless : describes technology that does not need to be plugged in; often refers to wireless Internet access (WiFi) Ex : You can bring your wireless laptop to an Internet cafe. 9. Obsolete : no longer useful; outdated Ex : That old software program is obsolete. There is a new one you can download. 10. Beta : still in a developing or testing stage (can also be used as a noun) Ex : The beta version is free to use now. You’ll have to buy the software in the future.
